Appreciation of the tremendous value of the camp experience for a child’s development has been at the core of Y Winnipeg activities since the 1890s with the establishment of Camp Stephens on Lake of the Woods.

Over the decades the Y has operated Camp Stephens along with other camps to make the camp experience as accessible as possible to children in Manitoba.

This focus has served thousands of individuals and contributed to the creation of community leaders and successful citizens.

For kids of all ages, camp is a proven catalyst for nurturing independence, self-confidence, leadership, interpersonal relationships and overall wellness in body, mind and spirit. It provides a wealth of life experiences they may never be exposed to in any other single setting.

Kids need places where they can be themselves without emotional or physical intimidation. Y camp programs focus on encouraging teamwork and creating an atmosphere where children and youth feel safe, valued and free to express themselves.

Your participation in the YMCA-YWCA $3-million Camps for Kids Capital Campaign helps ensure the future of the Y camp experience for upcoming generations of Manitoba children and youth.

Camp Stephens – New Cabins for Kids
Campaign Goal: $1,260,000
Purpose: Replace 18 bunkhouses housing 180 campers
Recognition Opportunities: Naming rights/dedications will be available on any contributions $25,000 and over.

Camp Douglas
Campaign Goal: $1,740,000
Purpose: Camp purchase and necessary upgrades
and refurbishment
Recognition Opportunities: The new camp’s facilities offer many opportunities for naming and recognition

• 12 cabins
• Swimming pool
• Playground
• Games room
• Camp
